CGWB Report said as of 2023, 56% of India’s districts (440) report nitrate levels above the safe limit of 45 mg/l, up from 359 in 2017. Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu are worst-affected. Groundwater contamination by uranium and fluoride also persists, with Rajasthan and Punjab showing the highest uranium levels.
